Flexible Dosing Options

PULMICORT RESPULES is the only branded inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) with a once-daily dosing option approved for patients 12 months to 8 years of age.1,23

With once-daily dosing options, PULMICORT RESPULES can be administered once-or-twice-daily, in varying doses, to help meet your patients’ needs. Flexible once-or-twice-daily dosing options also allows for therapy adjustments.23

Each patient’s starting dose is based on previous therapy, rather than body weight.23

Therapy with once-daily dosing

PULMICORT RESPULES dosed once-daily may be more convenient for your patients than dosed twice daily.

PULMICORT RESPULES was effective dosed once-or-twice-daily. However, when all measures are considered together, the evidence is stronger for twice-daily dosing.23

Additional dosing considerations

  • Once the desired clinical effect is achieved, consideration should be given to titrating to the lowest effective dose23
  • Improvement in asthma control can occur within 2 to 8 days of initiation of treatment, although maximum benefit may not be achieved for 4 to 6 weeks23
  • In symptomatic patients not responding to nonsteroid asthma therapy, a starting dose of 0.25 mg once daily of PULMICORT RESPULES may be considered23
  • Particular care is needed for patients who are transferred from systemically active corticosteroids to less systemically available corticosteroids, because deaths due to adrenal insufficiency have occurred in asthmatic patients during and after transfer from systemic corticosteroids (see WARNINGS in full Prescribing Information).23
